Primate Sanctuary
Located on 186 acres south of San Antonio, Texas, the API Primate Sanctuary provides refuge for more than 400 nonhuman primates rescued from roadside zoos, research laboratories, and private possession. Sanctuary residents — macaques, vervets, and baboons — live in free-range enclosures, with minimal human interference.
The Sanctuary has an excellent record of success in reintroducing the primates, most of whom spent their adult lives locked in cages, into social groups of their own species.
The API Primate Sanctuary has ambitious plans, including improving facilities, expanding animal care and rehabilitation programs — and, of course, rescuing more animals. Click here to visit the Sanctuary website now.
